I cant get hold of the full text but am I right in assuming this isn't a randomised trial its a prospective observational study? I think that there are way too many confounders influincing the decision to intubate which can not be accounted for in this sort of study and suspecct that those who required airway interventions where the sicker patients with more difficult airways to maintain and expected to have more prolonged resuscitation attempts. Food for thought though and may drive an RCT. | |

This nationwide, prospective study of 649654 consecutive OHCA patients based in Japan, reports decreased odds of neurologically favourable survival when pre-hospital advanced airway management occurred, compared to conventional bag-mask ventilation.
