AF following cardiac surgery is common, affecting 1 in 3 patients. Observational studies suggest fish oils, omega 3 fatty acids / n-3 PUFAs, may reduce cardiac deaths, possibly due to arrhythmias. In a 1500 pt RCT, prophylactic PUFAs made no difference to postop AF following cardiac surgery....
