Not surprised with this emerging evidence that more fluids kill people and IVF should be considered as drug with known adverse effects which are emerging from these recent RCT's. Similar results were seen in the post hoc analysis of the FACTT study which showed a posi- tive fluid balance after AKI was associated with 60-day mortality in patients with ALI. In this study, the risk of death was approximately 1.6-fold higher per L/d of fluid accumulated. Though both these studies were post hoc analysis, there is sufficient enough hypothesis generating data that negative fluid balance is associated with improved outcome in AKI which needs to be addressed in a large RCT. | |
